Our Projects

Each of our projects is focused on developing and supporting the adoption of FHIR Implementation Guides (IGs) that make it easier to share data across organizations, countries, and systems, accelerating discovery and improving patient care. Our portfolio includes projects at different stages:

  • Newly forming projects that are defining their scope and gathering collaborators.
  • Active development projects drafting and testing Implementation Guides.
  • Adoption-focused projects where Version 1 is published and being implemented, while Version 2 is in progress.

From real-world data to regulatory exchange, Vulcan projects tackle some of the most pressing challenges in global healthcare interoperability.

What is HL7 FHIR?

HL7 FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) is a standard for exchanging healthcare information electronically, developed by HL7. It acts as a set of building blocks for creating APIs and messages, enabling different healthcare systems to share data regardless of how it’s stored.
